Chinese Poetry

Chinese poetry is the most highly regarded literary genre in China. Traditionally, it is divided into shi , ci and qu. Classical poetry reached its zenith during the Tang Dynasty (A.D. 618-907). The early Tang period was best known for its "lushi" and ¡°jueju.

China's complete code of costume and trappings was est ablished in the Han Dynasty .The yarn-dyeing, embroidering and metal-processing technologies developed rapidly in the period, spurring changes in costume and adornments.

Chinese Opera

Chinese opera has been hugely popular for centuries, especially Beijing opera.The music is often guttural with high-pitched vocals,usually accompanied by suona,jinghu,other kinds of string instruments,and percussion.Other types of opera include clapper opera,Pingju,Cantonese opera, puppet opera,Kunqu,Sichuan opera,Qinqiang.

Folk Music

Chinese vocal music has traditionally been sung in a thin, non resonant voice or in falsetto and is usually solo rather than choral.All traditional Chinese music is melodic rather than harmonic.Chinese vocal music probably developed from sung poems and verses with music. Instrumental pieces played on an erhu or dizi are popular.

Tai Chi and other martial arts

Tai Ji Quan is a major division of Chinese martial art. Tai Ji Quan means "supreme ultimate fist". Tai means "Supreme", Ji means "Ultimate", and Quan means "Fist". There have been different sayings about the origin of Tai Ji Quan. The traditional legend goes that the wise man Zhang Sanfeng of the Song Dynasty (960-1279) created Tai Ji Quan after he had witnessed a fight between a sparrow and a snake;
